Smoked Mint Julep

Smoked Mint Julep

INGREDIENTS

  • 2.5 ounces of smoky whiskey (bourbon, Scotch, mezcal, or American single malt)
  • 0.5 ounces of simple syrup
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • Mint sprig for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Begin by lightly muddling the mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a julep cup or a rocks glass. You want to bruise the mint to release the oils, but don't shred it. Pour in your whiskey of choice. Fill the glass with crushed ice and stir gently until the outside of the glass begins to frost. Top with more crushed ice to form a dome on top of the glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

(Optional) For extra smokiness, you can use a Smoke Stack to fill the top of the glass with smoke.
